TFG’s Failure to Correct My Credit Limit — Flagged as High Risk Due to Their Negligence

I am writing this complaint out of frustration and disappointment with TFG (The Foschini Group) for their ongoing failure to correct the incorrect credit limit reflected on my credit profile, despite my numerous attempts since June 2025.

My actual credit limit is R6,200, but on the credit bureaus it continues to show as R25,000. This incorrect information is severely affecting my credit record and has caused me to be flagged as a high-risk consumer, which is unfair and damaging to my financial reputation.

Since June, I have been calling TFG regularly to request that they update my correct credit limit on the bureaus. Each time, I am given different explanations and no real assistance. The most frustrating experience was on 11 November 2025, when I called again and was transferred between 10 different consultants. I explained my issue to each one, yet no one took accountability, and in the end, I was simply left on hold until the line dropped.

TFG consultants continue to tell me that I must contact the credit bureaus directly, but when I reached out to Experian, they confirmed in writing that they cannot make the change — TFG must do it. This is the response I received from Experian:

“Kindly note that R25,000 is what was offered that you could use when the account was opened, it is not what you owe. The current balance is R6,185.00 should you wish to settle and close the account. To change the open balance, please find out from Foschini if they can change it from your profile on our records.”

This clearly shows that TFG is responsible for updating the information on their side, yet they have continuously refused to assist me and keep deflecting blame onto the bureaus.

As a result of TFG’s negligence, my credit profile now incorrectly reflects that I have access to R25,000 — which I do not — and this has caused my profile to be flagged as high risk, affecting my ability to apply for credit elsewhere.

I am requesting the following urgently:

That TFG updates my credit limit on all credit bureaus to accurately reflect my real limit of R6,200.

That TFG removes the high-risk flag or any negative marking that resulted from this incorrect reporting.

I would like to receive written confirmation that this matter will be attended to because i can't apply for finance because of it.

Please treat this matter as urgent, as it directly affects my credit standing and financial wellbeing.
