TFG Card
On the 2025-09-11 I purchased a pair of New Balance running shoes at the Sneaker Factory store, Westgate Mall, Mitchells Plain Cape Town
I was about to pay the full amount (R 1400) when the sales person (Moses) offered me a discount in price (R1260) if I sign up with the TFG card.
I agreed, and was subsequently called by a lady on the store phone
We went through the sign up process.
The same afternoon I paid the balance (R1260) reflected on the TFG online site.
The following Monday morning (25-09-15), I went online to check if the payment went through and to my dismay I found that I owe R 197,48.
I contacted TFG's customer care to query the matter and was told that the R197,48 was for funeral insurance and magazine subscriptions.
I was shocked because at no stage was I made aware or asked if I'm interested in any of these subscriptions mentioned during the TFG signed up process.
I subsequently received an email from TFG Insure stating that my request has been resolved with reference number CS-***.
I immediately wrote back about the events that took place at the shop the Friday and that I'm not at all happy with me being billed for stuff I never agreed or signed for.
This morning (25-09-16) I received a mail from TFG again stating that my request has been resolved.
I checked the online balance and saw the amount was brought down to R137,98.
I again rep**** to their email and amplified that if no effort is made to properly rectify the balance then they will leave me no alternative but to take further steps.
I am aware that this is not a lot of money but to me it's the principle behind the matter.
You can't bill someone for something he or she is not aware of.
So far I have had no satisfied response from them and the moment this matter is resolved I'm cancelling the card.
