TFG 6 months interest free is a myth! They are ****ming retail consumers!

I settled my TFG account on 21 July 2026, after I was placed under debt review in February without my consent. I had purchased a bed on 31 January 2026 and ensured that my account was settled within six months.

On 7 August 2026, I obtained my debt review rejection letter, and Absa lifted the hold on my account and restored my credit. However, TFG decided to charge my settled account R1,178.29 on 10 August 2026. When I initially enquired about the charge, I was told that it was interest.

I questioned what interest they were referring to, as TFG supposedly informs consumers that it offers a six-month interest-free policy. I was then told that the amount was actually an administration fee charged by Consumer Friend.

I subsequently contacted Consumer Friend, and they denied having the ability to charge anything to my TFG account. They confirmed that the charge was not made by them and that it was TFG's responsibility.

For over a month now, I have been trying to get this issue resolved. In the meantime, TFG's Credit Team has been calling me daily regarding an overdue account that I had already settled.

If someone can assist me with escalating this matter, please advise me on which route to take. I have been placed on hold and hung up on countless times, and every person I speak to gives me a different explanation. No one seems to know what is happening, and I am continually being sent from one department to another. I am repeatedly told to allow five to seven working days for the matter to be resolved, but nothing ever happens.

I keep receiving apologies for the inconvenience and assurances that someone will contact me, but I am repeatedly left waiting without any resolution.

A Client Service Manager has now claimed that this amount was charged by the debt counsellor. However, how is that possible when I have never used their services, and the debt counsellor issued a rejection letter confirming that I was never over-indebted?

TFG appears to be trying to recover additional money from me even though I have already paid the amount that was due to them. They are now also acting as though they are collecting a debt on behalf of a third party, while simultaneously claiming that the charge was not made by TFG but by that third party.

The explanations I have received from TFG have been completely inconsistent. I need a clear explanation of who authorised the R1,178.29 charge, what the charge is for, why it was app**** to a settled account, and why I am being pursued for payment when the account was already settled.

I would appreciate assistance in escalating this matter to someone who can properly investigate it and provide a definitive resolution.
