PATHETIC SERVICE

2020 has made many people have to adjust to the new norm. I started working from home in March 2020 and did not have a laptop or computer. I therefore had to go to my sister when I had to work so I could use her laptop. This had me dodging roadblocks as if I would get stopped I would get a fine.

on 27 May, I then decided to purchase my own on my Foschini account. It worked for a few weeks and I returned it to the Foschini Canal Walk store on the 6th of July. The laptop wouldn't switch on nor charge.

The laptop came back in August and the report stated that there was corrosion on the keyboard which was the result of water damage. It also stated that liquid damage void the warranty, however, the technician had fixed the issue and tested it. I do not know how there could have been liquid damage as I only work from my couch or desk and do not allow any liquids near it.

After I received it, it only worked for one day and had the same issue, it is as if it was never fixed. I returned it on the 25th of August and a guy named Keanu assisted me. There was no feedback for the month of September.

I then went to Hi store in Canal Walk at the end of September to get an update. I was told that the laptop was still at the store and had not been sent to technicians. I asked why and Keanu was contacted and he advised that I have to pay to have it fixed. They advised that warranty was voided as the issue was due to liquid damage. Everytime I go and request to speak to a manager, there is never one available and no one calls back when a manager is available.

On the 27th of October I called to speak to the manager, and I was told that the store manager Ralton only starts work at 5pm.

I then contacted TFG head office and was assisted by Chane who logged the complaint and said that I would get feedback within 7-14 working days. I called again on the 16th of November as I had not been contacted and spoke to Noma, she advised that there was no resolution and she would escalate again. I am still waiting for feedback and the laptop is still at Hi store in Canal Walk.

My credit score has dropped because of this as I have not been making payment due to the fact that they have not provided any feedback. What I would like to know is why did they fix it the first time if liquid damage voids the warranty? They should have opened it, saw the liquid damage then informed me that they can't fix it and even supp**** pictures of this liquid damage they speak of.

If this is a simple issue of liquid damage as they claim it is, why have they not found a resolution and instead are just leaving me hanging?

If I do not get feedback within 5 working days, I will escalate to the NCR and Consumer Protector.
