FALSE ADVERTISING FROM FOSCHINI
If I could give 0 stars, I would.
On 26 August 2021 Foschini publically announced that they are now phasing the Donna brand into their Foschini All Woman Fashion Range and highlighted their commitment to “more fashion, more freedom, more equality […] for every body”. Large white writing on the old Donna website -“INCLUSIVITY MAKES US STRONGER” - promises a new and improved shopping experience for women in South Africa of ALL sizes (refer to their commitment of including fashion for EVERY body).
But you can imagine my absolute disappointment and anger when, on 19 November 2021, nearly three months after the merge, I discovered that Foschini has not been so inclusive as they claimed they would be. What were to be found in the underwear section were mere leftovers from previous lines - no new, size inclusive bras or panties. When I inquired about this, I was told to “go to Woolworths”.
Furthermore, I could not find shoes in sizes 9 or 10, which were offerend in abundance at Donna before the merge. As ever, I inquired about this as well and heard - to my surprise - that the wider fit range will not be offerend any longer.
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but by claiming all they had (you know, inclusivity and fashion for everg body), it is expected that, AT THE VERY LEAST, the same sizes (of clothing, underwear and shoes), the same price range, the same quality of clothing and the same service are to be expected, which I find not to be the case. How can phasing out of shoe sizes and larger underwear be considered “inclusive”?
TFG has not changed at all. They haven’t become a more inclusive brand and they probably won’t ever. Thanks (not) for closing down a plus size shop countrywide leaving all of us wondering what to do next.
