Poor product

I bought a Wet/Dry Bennet Read almost a year ago. I look after my appliances, with my fridge going 15 years now. I have probable used my vacuum cleaner not more than ten times. I was busy vacuuming today and it just stopped. Even though the on light was still on, it just doesn't want to work. The return warranty only lasts for 6 months, what now?
