Expensive iron packs up after less than 1 year
Bought an AEG Steam iron from Stax Dunkeld in Jan 2014 for R650 (not cheap). It stopped functioning in May 2014 so I took it back for a replacement as it was still under warranty. It was replaced with no problem. Feb 2015 it stops working again (plate does not heat up despite being on etc). Warranty is expired so Stax can't help. Called AEG who weren't very helpful and kept giving vague information. They suggested I contact a service centre who may be able to assess the iron and give me a quote for repair. I contacted the service centre (Davenports in Craighall) who said they don't repair small appliances. Called AEG back to say that Davenports can't help and what are they going to do. Iron is less than a year old. Didn't return my calls and calls keep getting dropped. AEG can't give straight answers as to whether they do repairs or not, can assist or not, can replace the iron or not. I thought AEG was a superior brand but it clearly seems not. Now I am sitting with a dysfunctional iron, laundry piling up and AEG who don't seem to care about customer service or the quality of their products. Highly disappointed. Won't be buying this brand again. Pse give me a straight answer.
