Teneo are breaking the law by withholding learner reports

Teneo have no problem breaking the law by withholding your child's school report. Here is my correspondence with them:- To Whom It May Concern,

When I tried to log in to see my daughter's term four report, it said invalid username and password. I can't access it, why is this?

Our system has detected an overdue amount on the account and has blocked access to PowerSchool.

The balance on the account is currently: R 3199.00

Kindly use the Teneo family code TFC22048 as a reference on the payment to ensure the amount is correctly allocated to your account.

Upon receipt of the payment, the access will be reinstated to PowerSchool. Please allow 72 hours for this process to be completed.

My reply... Dear Teneo Team,

It is ******* to withhold a school report. The school should know this.

"In terms of section 25(12) and section 25(13) of the National Protocol on Assessment 2011, a school may not withhold a report card for any reason. This regulation applies to both public and independent schools from Grade R – 12."

I will pay my overdue fees in January again when I open up my business again as they are closed during December.

If you do not unblock my account within 24 hours so that I can see my child's report, I will put this all over social media like Hello Peter, Facebook and Google Reviews and I will contact news24.co.za and give them the story. This could create a media storm of bad publicity for Teneo.

When it is unblocked, please notify me at this email address.

Thank you for your email.

We can hereby confirm that all reports have been released and are available on PowerSchool. Please note that the accounting system would deny access to PowerSchool should the account have an outstanding amount.

My thoughts and opinion. Note that at no point am I given an actual person's name that I can speak to. My child's report is still being withheld, which is *******, even though I told them I'd pay in January when my business opens up again. My child is longing to see her report :-(
