How Teneo helped me thrive academically and mentally

I've been a learner at Teneo Online School for almost two years now. My journey here began after being severely bul**** during primary school and my Grade 8 year, the bullying lead to serious mental health challenges, which also caused me to struggle academically. My mom and I knew a change was needed.

So we decided to switch to a different environment which was Teneo online school. Making the switch to Teneo was initially difficult. I lacked discipline, and it was an entirely different environment. However, Teneo’s approach to my overall well being, alongside my academics, was my true breakthrough. Specifically, classes like Social Connect were instrumental. Here, I connected with my peers who are now my friends, and we openly talked about adjusting to online learning, the challenges of building discipline, and understanding the different stages of life as teenagers. This supportive peer to peer and teacher interaction was the structure I needed to regain my focus and confidence.

The support translated quickly into measurable results. I saw an immediate 10% increase in my marks in just the first term, which instantly boosted my academic confidence. I continued working hard with the renewed belief that I could succeed. I am so proud that I later received recognition from Teneo for being one of their Most Improved Learners. Teneo didn’t just improve my grades, it provided the mental space and positive environment necessary for me to heal, grow, and truly thrive.
