False advertising...

A decision of the Advertising Regulatory Board that Teneo is falsely advertising being the No 1 Online school. After ALL the time Hellpeter removed my complaints about this school I went another way to prove how bad they are. I have the document proving the outcome of the investigation... I can send it to you Hellopeter! We took our daughter out of Tenoe 1 week into Matric because she still had no access to class. We have switched to Impaq... I wish I had done it sooner!

 Dear Cynthia Your review is false and misleading. As you were the complainant to the Advertising Regulatory Board,  you are therefore fully aware that the decision of the ARB does not in any way state that Teneo is falsely advertising anything. Despite not being subject to the ARB’s jurisdiction, we provided them with a response to the complaint lodged by you. In particular, we explained that these are the reasons we claim to be the No.1 online school in South Africa:
  1. Teneo is the largest online school in South Africa by number of learners enrolled, and has the largest qualified academic staff complement
  2. Teneo is the top performing online school in recent years (amongst online schools of any significant scale) by reference to:
    a) Matric pass rate
    b) percentage of university entrance level matric passes achieved; and
    c) learners in the top ten of Matric learners in the country
3. Teneo offers more subjects, curriculums and formats than any other online school in South Africa, and all are offered in dual medium – no other online school does so4. Teneo was also the first online school in South Africa The ARB accepted that “some, if not all of these measures could justify a claim of no. 1”. However, despite having no evidence contrary to Teneo’s submission, their view was that without independent verification of the above, and only for that reason, they had to decide that the claim was unsubstantiated. No factual findings were made in relation to any of the reasons listed above. Teneo stands by those reasons. A proper investigation will reveal them to be true and therefore, that on the ARB’s own logic, Teneo is fully justified in claiming to be the No. 1 online school in South Africa.

Yours sincerely,
The Teneo Team

How very convenient of you to only quote from the initial sections of their decision... and omit the final conclusion... which states...

In the absence of independent, credible substantiation, as required by the Code, the Directorate considers the claim “SA’s no.1 online school” to be unsubstantiated in terms of Clause 4.1 of Section II of the Code.
Instruction to members ->
Members are instructed not to accept any advertising from the Advertiser bearing the claim “SA’s no.1 online school”.
