Complaint

I want to take the time to express the sheer torture and the disgruntling experience I have ever had the misfortune of enduring from one of your agents at your branch in Aussenkehr.

On the 26th of October 2023 (around 10:30AM – 11:30AM) we decided to visit your store to obtain a SIM card so that we could be connected to a network.

Being from a foreign country (South Africa to be specific), you can only imagine how imperative this was to us to attain as we needed to be connected to a particular network so that we could navigate, connect to our banking apps, connect to our social media, etc.

Upon arrival the lady that attended to us (apologies. I forgot her name) exhibited a very grinch-like facial expression, and she was not articulate in what she was saying because I had to ask her repeatedly on what it was that we needed to do. Eventually (after trying to decipher what she was mumbling under her breath), she instructed us to pick up a form (sworn affidavit) for us to complete and then basically shoo’d us off to the nearest police station as if we knew where it was located.

Fortunately for us, there was a gentleman that was sitting next to her, and he was kind enough to properly navigate us on where to go. We came back from the police station, submitted what was asked of us, only for the same person to hound us for proof of residence. Now, I’m not entirely certain why this was the case because the very same affidavit contains a residential address where I actually stay.

Furthermore, the definition of an affidavit is:

An affidavit is a written statement made under oath. This means that the person who is making the statement has sworn that the document contains the truth and is aware that they will be prosecuted if it is found that the contents of the affidavit (or parts thereof) are untrue.

We offered to provide a copy of my South African POR, she refused.

Then we asked if she could kindly connect us to the store’s Wi-Fi, so that we could at least obtain a tax invoice from a place we had booked for that day. Not only did she refuse, but we had to practically beg her just to connect to the Wi-Fi.

We contacted the hotel that we stayed in the night prior and they were kind enough to issue us with a copy of a tax invoice.

Unsurprisingly, she was reluctant in accepting the document as well. As if we had another alternative of conjuring up POR that has a Namibian address on it.

Oh, and it gets better…..

After all that drama, there was another form to complete, LOL.

Upon asking her for assistance pertaining to completing the form, it seemed as though she was reading off an example from her computer on the details required for a person on a business visit. We had to reiterate over several times that we were not there for business purposes. I asked if that's what I also needed to provide even though I was not there on a business trip, and since she was no help at all, errors were obviously made on the form. This given the fact that we coherently expressed to her that we required assistance with the damn form.

She repeatedly instructed us to complete a new form (3 forms completed BTW) as opposed to just merely correcting the errors that were made.

We ended up just giving up, leaving the store with our time utterly wasted, not to mention completely disrespected. Our only solution was to roam until we got to the next town. We got to MTC, the waiting time time in the queue was completely long and unnecessary.

Notwithstanding, the end goal was achieved, hassle-free and with a very friendly staff member.

In a nutshell, the level of aggression and incompetence experienced from telecom was truly astounding.

I hope the hiring manger peruses this complaint and deeply self-introspects at exactly why such a person was employed to represent their company in such a disgusting manner.
