Extremely poor quality leather lounge suites sold at Teds Home Store Malvern

<p>My wife and I purchased a leather lounge suite in 2011 from Teds Home Store in Malvern. This was a gift to her parents.<br />It was marketed and sold to me as a genuine leather 5 recliner suite for the incredible price of R18000.</p> <p>Trusting in the brand that is, Teds Home Store, I purchased the suite as well as many other items throughout the years. It is therefore very upsetting the events that occurred after purchase.</p> <p>Initially the after sales service was good, when one of the recliners broke, they repaired it at no extra cost. Within two years the suite started to peel, at first it was a single area which my wifes parents overlooked as they did not want to seem ungrateful by reporting this to me. They had covered the couches with a throw therefore we did not see the true extent of the damage until early last year. Almost every single component of the suite has peeled now in at least one area. There are no pets or children at my wifes parents house so the peeling is not as a result of improper care.</p> <p>I have reported this to the store and I am told that the store is unfortunately under new ownership and nothing can be done. After arguing and numerous phone calls, the manager has verbally informed me that I can pay in R5000 to re-upholster the set with genuine leather.</p> <p>This is extremely poor customer service from Teds Home Store in Malvern. I feel rather aggrieved to have been sold couches which are clearly not genuine leather and now to have to foot the bill for reupholstering them.</p>
