The Worst Funeral Society
After being a member of the TBFS for 8 years, today I was convinced that my contribution for the past years is not appreciated. In 2018 after being retrenched I went to the TBFS offices in JHB to arrange for a continuation of the policy from the ex company group scheme and be converted to an individual policy and also amend debit order dates. From 2018 I’ve honoured my premiums via debit, but then due to life changes reverted to paying policy via Pay@ cash method. In August 2020 I received message informing me that my policy has lapsed, however I had been paying monthly through cash. Walked in to their offices again today to arrange for a reinstatement, the receptionist who intermittently had to consult, firstly spoke to a person by name Thato telephonically, then was escalated to a person by the name Zhane who advised her that he confirms my cash Pay@ payment and an amount that is in suspense for the month of August.. In his conclusion through the receptionist telephonically and not even giving me the dignity to personally walk down to the reception to assist with giving full explanation why he is refusing to reinstate my policy, but to rather advise that I must restart policy and also will not have the same benefit amount of R30 000 that I had covered my parents and in laws with would be reduced to R5000 or R10000 at an increased premium. After voicing my dissatisfaction with his response, I was told that the only condition available was to restart, loose all the benefits I had for the past 8 years and also get a higher premium, their explanation was that I had used the reinstatement condition in 2018. I requested proof of where I had signed and agreed for a reinstatement in 2018, which they couldn’t produce, I also requested to know if my policy had to be reinstated where was communication that was shared with me to inform me that my policy was inactive in 2018. The shabby answers I received were unsatisfactory and vague to a point that I ended up walking out of their offices. This is how after being a customer for 8 years you get treated at TBFS, you are not given transparency, courtesy or even care, you are just told to take what they say and you also told that there’s nothing that they can do. The question I had posed, that if I had requested a reinstatement whilst I had signed only for bank details amendment, you are not shown that document that proves you agreed or acknowledged, no proof that the policy had fell into a inactive state in 2018 whilst the policy had continued up to now only to lapse due to their debits not being successful but whilst also cash payments had been made monthly since April 2020. To compensate for the not honoured debit order, cash payment was made monthly, but the bad taste left in my mouth after 8 years is that you are not considered for the long term relationship and you they attempt to ************ly attempt to convince you as a customer that you are must accept their own errors, mistakes, dishonesty, lies and unprofessionalism. The most painful part is that they don’t even show you proof of where you’ve signed to accept the so called reinstatement I had requested. Today I stay without any funeral cover for parents who are my dependents who you’ve paid for a policy for 8 years. When you request for a copy of my take up document which has the terms and conditions you also not assisted. This business should change their name from The Best Funeral Society to The Worst Funeral Society.
