Claim declined
Our Union, PSA has betrayed us for partnering with this funeral society. This is the worst funeral society. I would like to warn anyone who has taken a policy with this society to please cancel it, before you get a shock when you submit a claim. I've been having the funeral policy with TBFS since 2014, I've been paying my premiums consistently without any default. and all have been fine. I covered my dad too, he was living far from us since he was divorced to our mom. So my dad passed on in September 2021, he was buried without our knowledge. We only found out in July 2023 that he passed on. This was really a shock to us and I phoned TBFS to inform them and to request them to stop deducting premiums against my dad since he has now passed on. They refunded me the premiums I've been paying against my dad from the day he was certified dead. However, when I tried to claim the actual benefit, I was told they cannot pay my claim since i submitted late (6 months after my dad passed on). I wrote a letter of complaint to their complaints department. They responded by requesting me to fill the claim form and submit the required documents. I did exactly that, going as far as travelling long distance to collect my dad's documents. I submitted on the 12 October. To my shock, I got a call from a person who was processing my claim saying it has been declined due to late submission. TBFS how much of a fool can you make a person? Why did you make me to go through so much hassle of collecting the documents when you know you wont approve my claim? Why did you give me hope to only crush it? Given the circumstance of my case, the reason for my late submission (I was not aware of my father’s death until July this year), and the fact that my policy with you is 8 years old and I’ve been paying premiums consistently to date, I feel it very unfair and unreasonable for my case to be subjected to the express terms of the contract which do not take into consideration my unique circumstance. I dont deserve this, and i will fight tooth and nail until I get my benefit which I'm entitled to.
