Wrong goods received and cannot return

The goods I received was not what I ordered and unfortunately I only realized that after the 30 day return period. I ordered 8 bottles of printer ink, which were packaged and sent to me in one box containing two smaller boxed, each one with the 4 colors I ordered. Unfortunately I did not open both boxes when received it, and opened the second box approx. 45 days afterwards when I needed to refill my printer again. This is when I realized the second box only contained a coffee mug and no ink, which means I paid R500 for a R20 mug. I realize it was my responsibility to open both boxes when I received the goods, but surely Takealot should treat some deliveries by exception taking certain facts into consideration, i.e. the way it was packaged, it can be returned in original packaging, considering past sales, etc.? Just in principle, I doubt that I will buy from Takealot again!
