Why pre-order if you don't get it on the release day?

Although I have shopped on takealot numerous times this is the first time that I have ever received service that has me so disgusted and angry. I preordered a book on the 30 December 2024, which was released internationally on the 21 January 2025. I have been looking for and counting down the days to go and collect my book at my closest collection point. I checked the order on the 20th of January to make sure that my order was still coming the next day. On the 21st of January at 4:00, it still showed that my order could be collected and that I would get an sms or email. I checked a little later before 7:00 and my order has been moved to the 23 January. Why? Who knows. Everyone else that I know who has ordered this book received a call/sms/email to collect their book today so why was mine moved? What was the point of pre-ordering and paying a higher price to get the item on the release day if it gets moved to another day? I should have kept the money and gone to the bookstore to get my book.
