Who is responsible for cost
So on Friday 23 August 2024. My husband and myself were involved in a accident with a takealot motorbike in PMB near makro. We are grateful that nobody was badly hurt but the way in which the manager/owner of the Takealot driver reacted was absolutely disgraceful. My husband contacted him asap, and we waited for around 45 min before he arrived. Excuse being he was busy. He admitted that his driver was in the wrong (speeding, overtaking on the right as we were turning and our indicators were on) he then informed my husband that the motorbike is new and he has no insurance. This is just not acceptable as how can a business not have an insurance. Like his bike is new so is our car R600000 worth. He then told my husband he will give my husband the excess amount due on our insurance but my husband must please play along as he was going to tell the driver he has to pay this money. My husband told him that this is not our problem and how he gets his money back from the driver has nothing to do with us. He also said we must not report this to the police, which we had to do anyway to get a case number for us now to use our insurance, loose our no blame bonus and this guy can put vehicles on the road and have a business with no insurance. I truly think this is very pour business policies as surly he should be insure and be responsible for takealot staff. We are now using our insurance for something that he should take responsibility for. Even though we are extremely angry with what happened we also feel sorry for the driver as who knows how he will pay this money back and most probably he has a low income.
