What's the point of human customer support?
I received a R500 gift voucher and tried to spend it. Unfortunately, it seems that Takealot have changed their delivery policy. You are now required to spend R500/more in order to get free delivery as well as subscribing to a monthly delivery fee. My order totalled R499. Do you think that they would round it up and give the free delivery? No. There is absolutely NOTHING that you can buy on their site for R1! I then juggled my order in such a manner that I needed to spend R36 to meet the R500 total. I have found that Takealot do not operate in even number prices only odd numbers!! Therefore, you can find something for R35 but not R36 etc. I then decided to buy airtime with the remainder of my voucher but this isn't allowed either!!! Nevermind that my account is in credit! I then stupidly requested assistance from Customer Support. Here's what I learnt: a) they refuse to assist you to find something that costs a particular price, b) they refuse to round your order up by R1 to meet the R500 min, c) they promise to call and don't unless you pester them, d) they suggest you order something that tips you over R500, to R505, but...d) refuse for you to pay the excess R5 on receipt of order e) refuse to discount the small excess....instead they prefer taking the R3 or R5 from your bank account, ensuring that your bank charges are more than what they're deducting!!! It's people like these who should be replaced by AI. Takealot are providing Amazon with ample opportunity to take over. So sad, as Takealot have awesome delivery staff. Highly annoyed with the all round ******* "support". Customer Support staff aren't willing to go the extra mile. Their views are rigid, unhelpful and unwilling. This was intended to be a gift voucher to me. What kind of gift voucher expects me to pay for delivery etc because I couldn't find something for R1!!! Shame on you.
