Watch out! ********** access your Credit Card details when you shop at Takealot.com

We used our credit card to buy our son a gift voucher from Takealot.com on 14 June 2017. Twelve hours later in the early hours of 15 June ********** transactions started going off on our credit card account. Pages and pages of R1 and R9 transactions came up with ABSA when I phoned them to cancel the card. The case is being investigated and we will be making a ******** case too.

I have always thought I am a bit of a fuddy duddy for not trusting credit card shopping online and therefore have very rarely done so. I assured my husband that Takealot.com is a well known and respected retailer that would certainly have brilliant security procedures in place to ward off ******** activity. It seems I was sorely mistaken.

Customers are left to their own devices. I phoned the Takealot.com call centre to report the situation and I was told that they have never heard of such a thing on Takealot (allthough there are a number of complaints just on Hello Peter) and her only advie was to stop my card (which I have done before I phoned their call centre ofcourse). Takealot's call centre certainly has no plan or procedure to deal with customers who have been ****** - anyway the consultant had no plan...

Takealot's lack of security has ruined my online shopping experience and has put us without a credit card for a week and caused emotional strain for both my husband and I.

Won't be using them ever again and will be posting this on Facebook too, to warns my friends.
