Waiting in vain

I recently ordered a bread making machine from takealot.com. I was told that the order would be delivered on the second of Decenber before 1700. this was confirmed by SMS, and by the tracking site. I have waited all day, but still no delivery. Must I now sit and wait, unable to go out shopping, until the courier decides to deliver? I think that the company should pay more attention to service delivery.
