Very BAD delivery service
I ordered textbooks from Takealot. On the day of delivery the security gate at the estate we stay in contacted me to say that the courier is at the gate - I was at the office at this time and told them to wait there I am on my way and will be there in literally under 2 minutes. When I got there they had left. The guy at the gate is new at the estate and did not know me. He was allowed to sign for my package as the courier company left the package with him. <br> <br> I was very upset about this as this was a very expensive package and I just cant believe that anyone is allowed to sign for my package?? This is how things get ******. I emailed Takealot to complain about this and the response I got was that they apologise that I did not have a great experience and they advise me that if I place an order in the future that I should specify that I myself am the only person that is allowed to receive the package. How the hell is this advice??? Obviously if I paid and I placed the order and if MY name is on the package I should definitely be the only one who should receive and sign for MY package!!!! How and WHY is it ever acceptable to leave a person's package with a complete stranger?

This is not our standard practice and we'll address this as a matter of priority with the responsible driver and relevant courier branch. To clarify, you should certainly be the only one authorised to sign and receive your package and only on special request by yourself should someone else be allowed to do so.
