Unacceptable reason for rejection

I bought my dad a cordless drill for his birthday. A few days later he decided to try it out and asked me how just it be charged. I said there's supposed to be a charger according to the description on takealot's site. He said there isn't a charger so I logged a return for it. My return got rejected because they are saying the drill was used.

1. How could the drill have been used if the batteries were flat when he got it and there was no charger to charge it up? 2. I asked for proof of why they say it has been used which they never did after more than a week. 3. I asked for advice as to where I can buy a charger if they won't give me one and I still didn't get a response

I've sent multiple emails but am not getting a proper response. My dad is now sitting with an expensive gift that he cannot use and now both me and him are reluctant to buy again from takealot.
