Think twice before buying Brabantia via Takealot - they are functionally incapable of honouring their guarantee

I bought a Brabantia can opener (Brabantia can opener with metal handle - white) about a year ago from Takealot.com as I thought it looked better than many of the cheaper designs on the market and Brabantia offered a 5 year guarantee. I have since had trouble with the can opener and contacted Brabantia on 9 June 2022 regarding this. I was told to log a return via Takealot only to find that Takealot has a 6 month guarantee specified on their site for the item and so the return feature was disabled. I have since been in contact with Brabantia and they said they would sort this out with Takealot. It is now 4 weeks later and I am still waiting for this to be resolved. It seems Brabantia have made this a Takealot problem, yet Brabantia supposedly offer the guarantee? Meanwhile I have a can opener that doesn't function properly...
