They don't know how to do Pre-Orders.

If you're going to be catering to a gaming community, you have to be ready for on point delivery performance.

I've been a loyal customer for many, many years. Even since the Taketwo.co.za days, way before the brand change and ages before the merger with kalahari.com

Needless to say, I think I'm done with Takealot. I'll even mention the competitor I'll rather use from now on to suit my online purchasing needs - Raru.co.za

Here's the dealio. Takealot opened up pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch a month or two before the release day. I almost immediately put down my pre-order and payment. There was an estimated release/delivery date was 03/03/2017. On the 2nd of March I noticed my orders...

(x3 pre-orders for 3 separate products - I don't know why they make it this complicated by making us put down multiple pre-orders instead of just 1 order.)

...were all still set to a pre-order status. I followed up by speaking to multiple call center reps, who each had different answers and raised multiple different concerns (I'm still waiting for some of them to get back to me with their redundant answers).

After a lot of frustration I was put into contact with a floor manager who "promised" high and low that I will most definitely be receiving my pre-order on release day, since I fall under the main centers. I was told by multiple reps I will definitely receive my products on release day, since I fall under the main center (Centurion).

Come launch day. My orders have arrived at Takealot warehouses at 9AM... where they remained there for 5 hours before being dispatched to Fedex. I was not updated once on the deliver tracking. I understand they were experiencing "technical glitches" as stated in a Facebook post. My orders were also not dispatched together since they probably confused the 3 different pre-orders.

So I get on the phone again and well, suddenly there are issues. I get told to put some pressure on Fedex. I get on the phone with Fedex, they tell me that Takealot has scheduled delivery for 2-3 days over the weekend so I'll only get my stuff on Monday. But then I also get told that the delivery was scheduled for the 8th of March... the next Wednesday.

Oh oh but wait, they'll follow up and confirm. I have not heard back anything. I don't know where my products are. I don't know when I'm getting them. All I know is I will not get my products on the date promised to me.

Empty promises and poor service.

0/10, won't purchase again.

Reviewer Update

They've now contacted their 3rd party couriers that have my orders scheduled for delivery for this evening to tomorrow. If this follows through, I'll reconsider my stance in this.
