The ********* saga of the missing return
I generally like Takealot. I have their app. I shop there often. I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and received it on the 29th of August. It dropped calls randomly so I sent it back for exchange on the 11th of September. The parcel was collected that same day and was received at the warehouse on the 18th of September. The supplier received the parcel on the 21st of September.
I got an email from a lady named Enid Splinters on the 29th of September, to update me on my parcel. It has been sent to the supplier. That's nice, I think.
I reply to Enid's email on the 10th of October. I relay my whole story again and ask for an update on my parcel. I get an automated response "We have received your service request".
A lady named Lauren McCallum gets back to me on the same day. She says they are awaiting my unit at their warehouse and they will ship it back to me as soon as they receive it from the supplier.
On the 15th of October, I log into the tracking system to see that my return has been logged as Cancelled and Concluded. I email Takealot. Someone called Babalwa Ngqukuvana gets back to me and informs me that they could find no fault with the cellphone and that it is being sent back to me by Skynet, waybill number ********** 61302.
I log into the Skynet tracking system. They had received the parcel at the Pretoria branch on the 10th of October. That is strange, I think, since Takealot had not received the parcel at their warehouse yet on the tenth - how could Skynet have it? The parcel was then sent to the Johannesburg branch on the 11th of October - and it has been there ever since.
Anyway, I email Skynet multiple times, with no response. Eventually, I find a number for the Johannesburg branch. I phone around and speak to many incoherent people. I get no help from Skynet either - but that has been relayed in a separate review.
Takealot, I am angry and disappointed in you. You obviously do not care an ounce weather your customers receive their goods or not. Personally, I think you make the return process hard on purpose, just so that you are not held accountable if the standard of your goods is not up to scratch.
