The Christmas Branch

After months of saving and dreaming about the perfect dream for our first home. Finally ordered on the 25th of November 2019 with a COD payment selected. Delivery due for the 4th of December 2019. Status stayed as ‘Not yet shipped’ on the 3rd, on the 4th of December 2019. (Cool no problem, husband will only be leaving on the 5th) The delivery changed to 6 December 2019. Phoned Customer Service to try to understand what was going on and I was told that COD orders are not prioritized and that I will ‘probably’ get it on Friday (6th) but not guarantee. I pleaded with the Call Centre to let me collect it, they said no.

Finally on Friday, the 6th of December 2019, after 4pm. I finally received my delivery, only to discover that instead of a lush, American style, pre-lit (expensive) GREEN tree I received a scrawny WHITE cheap, pathetic tree... no branch! (It was so thin it couldn’t exactly be called a tree!)

I was the phone immediately with the Customer service, obviously livered. I got the same, read-from-internet-script that I could only return the tree and then I would have to wait until they got the right one. (Maybe I would have a tree after Christmas). My next move is I went to the big warehouse in Cape Town. Staff clearly already on holiday. Not help at all. They just took the branch back and starting typing away and then the gent pipes up and says ‘oh the listing has been removed’ okkkkaaay so what is the solution? Nothing apparently he just looked at me like I must know. So I asked for a refund and waited. And waited and waited. A while later I asked the gent do you need me for anything else. No. So I just sat here waiting for NOTHING!!!!!!

I can’t believe this. I’m so disappointed in Takealot. Ruined Christmas for sure! Now there won’t be any tree till next year.

We, myself, family and all my colleagues, make use of Takealot a lot! We have always looked to you first for everything we need. I won’t now.

Plus I work for a company that used to list on Takealot and the amount of procedures and nonsense the seller has to go through to bend and break for Takealot its SHOCKING that Takealot drop the ball.
