Terrible service, incompetence, apathy & theft a Takealot tale
I want to say that I am completely appalled by the level of customer service provided by Takealot and their service team inability to resolve an issue of their making.
My situation is as follows I made a purchase of books from Takealot over a month ago, unfortunately shortly after I found 2 of my purchased books (textbooks needed to study for a professional affiliation exam) for a far more reasonable price elsewhere. The price variance was in excess of R2000 just for the 2 textbooks. In the interim, I made purchase of the cheaper versions from the alternative suppliers with the intention of returning the textbooks to Takealot once the replacements arrived.
Upon request to return the goods the Somerset West branch dispatched their driver to pick-up the books to be returned and refunded to my account. The driver arrived at our home and without checking the contents of the box as prescribed, he entered our home and removed my cheaper replacement textbook from our dining room table and took off with it (my domestic is partly to blame for this as her gullibility allowed for this to happen). So in essence the driver made off with 3 books instead of the 2 which he was told to pick up. A few days later I became aware of the error and made contact with Takealot regarding the return of my textbook. I was first met with the customer service department and their inability to understand what was being explained to them, the useless Somerset West branch which was unwilling to take responsibility for their error including a female receptionist who had the gall to put the phone down in my ear and the male manager who washed his hands of the whole affair and told me to make contact with the main distribution centre in Ottery. I then went back to the service department on 3 separate occasions to try and get this resolved with them but have been met with avoidance and utter stupidity.
I am expected to accept an apology for this inconvenience but it doesn't change the fact that I am now without a textbook, which I waited over a month for, cost me a bundle of money and that I urgently require to be able to study for and write my accreditation exams.
Takealot can quite frankly go to hell for this ****-poor performance. I am thoroughly irritated and will avoid using this service as much as possible in future and will advise others to do the same.
