Talealots hair iron burned out

I bought a hair iron and I just got it today and started doing ny hair and heard a loud bang sound and smoke coming out of the hair iron. What if I had to burn or shock. My whole room smells like smoke and burnt wire. How is this safe. I should have knows that's why they marked it down to R200. And they probably just going to refund my R200 not caring what damage it could jave caused I was so lucky. And I have a work function tomorrow so now I can't even do my hair. It was literally on for one minute. I'm so sad
