TakingAlot (of time, patience and resource) from Clients.

It is hard to fully express the extent of poor service and potential incompetency and certain lack of customer care I experienced with Takealot -since December last year. It started when they split my Christmas order in two and delivered the first half late on 23 December and did not bother delivering the second half of the order. Despite complaints, the only remedy app**** was to give me a belated refund. Which I still had to follow up on. And then: I purchased a rebounding trampoline at the end of last year. The trampoline is secured by nylon fabric straps and interlocking metal springs and connectors. After bouncing on the trampoline for 4 months, one of the nylon straps supporting that actual bounce area frayed and broke. I returned the item to Takealot in Plumstead; and this is where it gets juicy – two items returned that day & in the bag was item along with the nylon strapping and metal piece into which the springs attach separate, from the rest of the trampoline. After assessing it for two months without any communication, when I followed up, they first informed me that they had not received the item and I needed to drop it off. I went to the Plumstead collection point and confirmed, indeed, with the actual person whom I had spoken to on the day that I had dropped it off – she was lovely, she even remembered me – Takealot, then took an additional three weeks to assess it and to inform me that they would not be refunding the trampoline as it had broke due to user damage. This perplexed me as the function of the trampoline is for it to be bounced on so when the supporting bounce infrastructure fails, it must be a factory fault – surely? This email debate raged on between myself and various customer service representatives over two weeks. One of them even had the audacity to imply that my understanding was impaired. I had no choice, but to give up as they had already arranged for the return of my broken trampoline to be delivered to my home – without any communication as to when this delivery may occur. Upon taking delivery of the broken trampoline yesterday afternoon imagine my share mind Blown surprise to discover that they had not included the nylon strapping and metal hinge into which the springs could attach so that I could fix the trampoline myself. I am beyond shocked. Needless to say, I’ve closed off and deleted my account.
