Takealot's fictitious pricing
I don't know how Takealot gets away with this, but they need to be stopped. There listings prices are completely made up and so are the savings their customers are apparently receiving...
I had a look on their daily deals today and found some PC parts that looked oddly expensive, even with the so called large savings I would be getting? So I went and compared the price of the exact same item on Evetech's website and not to my surprise I was correct.
So here are the items in question and their relative prices discrepancies in list price (LP), Paying price (PP) and so called saving (S): Hikvision E2000 512GB M.2 PCI-e Gen 3 x 4 NVMe 3D NAND SSD Takealot - LP=R2899, SP=R2039, S=29% Evetech - LP=R1900, SP=R1,599, S=15% And an interesting fact is that the 1TB version of this NVMe on Evetech has a PP=R2799
Hikvision E100 512GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 inch SSD Takealot - LP=R2399, SP=R1399, S=41% Evetech - LP=R1500, SP=R999, S=33%
I don't know where Takealot supposedly collects their list pricing and how they calculate the selling price of these goods, but this is only one example and it is frightening to think of how many of the other products on their website has similar pricing discrepancies...?
