Takealot.com - inferior products with no return

We ordered an electric paint sprayer last week. It did the first coat of a small DIY job, but when doing the second coat it overheated and would not work any further. We checked that all nozzles etc were clear, but it would not complete the job. I contacted Takealot and was informed that as it came with no warranty, it is non returnable. How can they sell products that have no warranty? The South African Consumer Protection act has a rule to protect a customer from being supp**** a product that cannot do the job it was intended for. It is highly ********* for Takealot to sell products that can not do the job it was intended for. It's ************ to say the least.
