takealot.com (If i could i would rate it negative 5 stars)
As a seller on Takalot (TAL), I must express my profound disappointment with their customer support—or rather, the lack thereof. Their approach feels more like ghost commerce, which certainly isn't doing them any favors. There's a glaring absence of a telephone helpline, leaving sellers stranded when trying to resolve issues swiftly and efficiently. What's worse, TAL seems to shirk responsibility for directly communicating with sellers regarding shipment issues.
Let me recount an incident that illustrates this point vividly: On 23/11/2023, I dispatched a shipment due at TAL by 27/11/2023. However, according to the seller's portal, the shipment was partially received, with 8 items mysteriously missing. Upon investigation, it became apparent that of the 9 small items placed in a transparent bag, only 1 was scanned into the system, leaving the bag seemingly unchecked. Each item requires a barcode label generated from their portal, visible through the transparent bag, yet this issue persists unresolved since a ticket was logged on 30/11/2023. Despite repeated pleas for escalation and telephone contact, the issue remains stagnant, with even new tickets being summarily closed without resolution.
This incident is not isolated. We encountered another debacle with a rejected shipment of a single A3 light pad, supposedly because it was sent to the wrong distribution center. However, it's important to note that TAL prompts sellers to input package dimensions upon listing a product, and it's TAL themselves who issue the delivery address for shipments. Yet, when the shipment is rejected, the blame is squarely placed on the seller for allegedly inputting incorrect dimensions or on the courier companies for delivering to the wrong center. This passing of the buck mentality is not conducive to resolving issues effectively.
It's crucial to distinguish between the hardworking individuals on the support help desk and the systemic failures stemming from managerial negligence. Issues that cannot be resolved at the help desk level should be promptly escalated to higher management for thorough investigation and resolution. However, it seems TAL's rapid expansion has come at the cost of quality both in products and services. Customers are receiving incorrect items, obtaining refunds without returning them, and the whole experience feels like a chaotic free-for-all.
In conclusion, TAL needs to step up, take responsibility, and initiate proactive measures to enhance support and communication with sellers. Otherwise, the deterioration in quality will only exacerbate existing issues, leading to further dissatisfaction among both sellers and buyers.
I cannot wait for Amazon to launch in SA!
