Takealot.com Disappointment

I write this review with a heavy heart. I recently bought a Diesel watch for R4000 and a Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio fragrance for R2350 which were delivered to me on Friday the 14 of July 2023. The watch packaging doesn't look like the original packaging of the watch, it wasn't covered in preservation plastic and there was no booklet inside the box. The Diesel tag which is normally tied on the watch was removed and the condition of the tag itself looked like it had had better days.

I inserted the batch number of the fragrance on a website called checkcosmetic.net which shows you the manufacturing date of the fragrance. To my disappointment the fragrance I had spent R2350 had been manufactured in October 2016 so I was sold a fragrance which is almost 7 years old. Taking into account the fact that fragrances have a general shelf life of 3 years, after which the quality of the fragrance starts deteriorating, means that this fragrance will be useless.

The most painful part about these purchases is that I bought them as gift for a friend. I felt I needed to write this review because I find myself consistently having to return things back to Takealot but unfortunately for me Takealot has a non-returnable and non-refundable rule for fragrances. Now I am stuck with an expensive, 7 year old and still fully packaged item which I cannot return.
