Takealot why?
I purchased a Hisense TV from Takealot January 2017. Great service, prompt delivery, perfect transaction. Last month the unit started ghosting ( images from the previous channel would stay on the screen when you changed channels) i requested a repair as the unit was still under warranty. Unit was promptly collected, 'repaired' and returned. I say 'repaired' as the unit was still exhibiting the self same issues when I got it back a week later but not only had it not been repaired it now sported 5 dots in the center of the screen which hadn't been there before. I duly did a follow up and the unit was booked in again, importantly I packaged the unit for the second return in the same packaging I had received when I got it back the first time. Unit was collected, a couple of days later I did a follow up and that was when things got interesting! I was then told the unit had been damaged in transit and the warranty was void unit would be returned to me as the company policy is that it is solely the clients responsibilty to ensure items are packaged correctly. I understand the need for policy. However when I started asking for more info and clarity I was completely ignored. My questions were: - Are items opened under camera and if so I would like access to the footage - How do they know the item was damaged in transit and not in the warehouse? -Couriers have insurance for this type of thing. I want the courier details to start the claims process - What is considered adequate packaging? I had used there self same packaging so how was it now not adequate?
Absolutely ZERO response after multiple emails! I then contacted them via FB messenger as I read this was how best to contact them for quick feedback. The FB consultant - nameless unfortunately- has been great, super friendly and clearly willing to get to the bottom of this. Thank you for your willingness and great customer service!
I understand this issue is still ongoing but clearly they believe its finalized as I had the now completely broken tv returned to my home yesterday!! Clearly damaged in transit or the warehouse and totally unusable now.
I have now been forced to lodge a complaint with the Consumer complaint ombudsman and hopefully I can get some service from Takealot that can resolve this matter with some respect and dignity. I just want a TV that works please.
