Takealot Unfair Refund Policy & Misuse of My Voucher

I ordered a washing machine for R4,000 and a fridge for R4,800 during Black Friday. The total for my order was R8,800. I used a Takealot gift voucher worth R2,550, which brought my payment through Payflex down to R6,150.

However, the fridge I received was incorrect, so I decided to return it. Once the refund was processed, I was refunded R2,250 through Payflex and R2,550 in Takealot credit (the value of the gift voucher I had used).

I raised a query regarding this because I expected the full R4,800 for the fridge to be refunded via Payflex. When I placed the original order, I did not specify that the R2,550 gift voucher should be app**** solely to the fridge. My understanding was that the refund should have been handled differently—either fully refunded through Payflex or apportioned as R1,390 in Takealot credit and R3,410 refunded via Payflex.

According to Monica, the consultant I spoke with, Takealot’s terms and conditions state that when a return is made, the full value of any gift voucher used in the order is app**** to the item being returned. However, when I reviewed their T&Cs via the link provided, I couldn’t find any clause that explicitly stated this.

Because of this, I now need to pay extra to purchase the fridge I want elsewhere.
