Takealot turns a very simple payment issue into a mountain of inconvenience
I made an order this weekend using store credit and intended to pay the rest off on credit. The site, however, defaulted to Cash on Delivery. I asked Takealot if I could square the balance as they told me it was too late to cancel the order, and since the order is large I did not have the cash. I was told to make en EFT.
I made the EFT and called in again to check. A different consultant told me it would be fine, I would have no issues with the driver and they would update the system as soon as they got confirmation from their Finance department.
Fast forward to today and I'm told I have to pay Cash on Delivery and Takealot needs to refund my EFT or the delivery person heading to me today won't hand over the package. I called in for a third time to speak to a supervisor and it turns out I was given wrong instructions and there's nothing anyone seems to be able to do. The driver will come here, NOT DELIVER THE PACKAGE, and then have to come back another day when the EFT clears, all because Takealot could not sort out a very simple issue (I am a regular customer of Takealot, so I'm not trying to **** them with that EFT).
I asked the supervisor why they did not simply cancel the order initially and let me reorder and pay with a credit card. Didn't really receive an answer. Maybe next time I'll try Raru.
