Takealot takes your money with perfectly returned items

I ordered decor and furniture items which I opened on arrival to determine which was suitable. The items included 3 standing lamps of which one was damaged (including its box), one was not what we had ordered, and the other was considered unsuitable. Fact is that all 3 items were opened to assess suitability. On returning the items, the unsuitable item and the incorrectly provided item have been declined for a refund based on opened packaging. The damaged item is still under review.

I am appalled that an unused, perfectly resellable item has been declined for refund based on opened packaging alone. I understand from the call agent that this is included in the return policy, but this has never before been enforced by Takealot. I am at a loss of how to deal with this as these items were expensive and I never thought this clause would be enforced based on the correctly repacked and returned items.
