Takealot showed same-day delivery before I paid, then changed it after payment — Order #***

I am posting this because it is every consumer’s right to complain when a company’s platform says one thing before payment and something else after payment.

This complaint is about **Takealot Order #*****, placed and paid on **26 May 2026**.

Before I paid, Takealot’s platform showed that the order was eligible for same-day delivery. That is the only reason I bought the ink through Takealot instead of going to a physical supplier. I needed the ink urgently for printing. This was not a casual purchase.

The order included Canon ink cartridges and a watch. The ink was the urgent item.

After I paid, the delivery date suddenly reflected **Friday, 29 May 2026**.

That is the problem.

Before payment, the platform created the impression that same-day delivery was available. After payment, the delivery changed to three days later.

I phoned Takealot within minutes because I had just paid and immediately saw that the order was no longer showing same-day delivery.

At **09:18 on 26 May 2026**, **Mandilakhe.J** emailed me and confirmed that, after our telephone discussion, he would contact the warehouse for assistance with **expediting the order for delivery that day**.

At **09:27**, **Mandilakhe.J** also confirmed that a note had been made for the delivery team to call me before delivery, or to leave the order with security at the gate if I was not available.

At **13:32**, **Jaden.F** emailed me and said the matter had been escalated to the Warehouse Department.

So this was not a situation where I misunderstood something and only complained days later. I complained immediately. Takealot’s own agents treated it as a same-day delivery problem on the same morning the order was placed.

The order was still not delivered that day.

Because I re**** on Takealot’s same-day delivery representation, I did not make alternative arrangements in time. I then had to print documents elsewhere and pay per page at places like PostNet and printers. This caused me a direct financial loss of a couple of thousand rand because I had to print a large volume of pages without the ink that I ordered urgently.

Then, two days later, Takealot tried to explain it away by saying I had not paid the **R95 same-day delivery fee**.

That does not answer the complaint.

I was not presented with that R95 option at checkout. If Takealot had presented that option, I would have paid it. I needed the ink urgently. The R95 was not the issue.

On **29 May 2026**, **Sinoxolo.J** confirmed in writing that I had seen a banner before checkout indicating that the order was eligible for same-day delivery and would be sourced from the JHB warehouse. Takealot then said that only during final order processing did the system decide that same-day delivery could not be fulfilled.

That is exactly my complaint.

A customer should not be shown same-day delivery before payment, pushed through payment, and then only after payment be told the order will arrive days later. That is misleading in practice, whatever Takealot wants to call its internal system process.

Takealot’s position is basically this: the banner can show same-day delivery before checkout, but the system can still change the delivery after payment, and the customer must just accept it.

That is not good enough.

I also checked Hellopeter and Takealot already has a poor public TrustIndex with thousands of complaints. I can see I am not the only customer raising serious issues about delivery and poor service.

I am not posting this to ask for another generic “we apologise for the inconvenience” response. I am posting it to place the facts on record.

Takealot represented same-day delivery before payment.

I re**** on it.

I paid.

The delivery changed after payment.

I phoned immediately.

Mandilakhe.J said the warehouse would be contacted to expedite delivery that day.

Jaden.F said the matter was escalated to the warehouse.

The order was still not delivered that day.

Sinoxolo.J later confirmed that the same-day banner was shown before checkout, but Takealot’s system only made the final delivery decision later.

I suffered direct financial loss because I had to print elsewhere at per-page rates.

That is not seamless service. That is a post-payment delivery downgrade dressed up as a system explanation.

Consumers deserve better than this.
