Takealot Selling Second Hand Repackaged Stock As New Stock
Hi ALL, I bought a YOCO machine at Takealot for my small business. This machine you use to accept card payments. When I registered the machine, the machine told me it was already in use. I phoned YOCO's customer service department and they investigated. It turned out that this machine was sold by Takealot to a other customer, this customer registered the device, did one transaction and returned it back to Takealot for whatever reason. They repackaged the item without clearing the serial number of the machine and sell it to me as brand new. As customer I did not know it was second hand, repackaged and sold as new until I found this out from the YOCO cutomer service centre. The YOCO customer center person that assisted me, says Takealot does this a lot and they have endless problems with this. My point is if it is second hand, I as customer must be notified of this and pay a demo price not a new price. Takealot's integrity is gone with this. My question is how many items customers are purchasing from them that are second hand, repackaged and selled as new items? This is unaccpetable. This is a illigal practice. If they tell the consumer it is second hand and repackaged with a demo price, then the consumer have the option to decide whether they want to purchase the second hand item or not. But selling it as new is illigal if it is second hand and repackaged.
