Takealot return struggle

I had purchased a cellphone thinking that it was a tablet.

Phone arrived on 6 April 2026. I opened the package noticed that it was not a tablet. Without switching the phone on, I logged a return.

On 7 April 26 at 06:40 am the package was picked up by Takealot couriers.

I have just received an email that email that the return is declined due to damaged cellphone.

How could I have damaged the cellphone that was less than 24 hours with me .
