Takealot refuses to honour warranty, returns hazardous swollen battery
I am logging a formal complaint after a shocking failure of service and a violation of the Consumer Protection Act by Takealot.
My mother's S22 (still under its 24-month warranty) had a severely swollen battery, a known manufacturing defect and safety hazard.
I logged the return within the warranty period.
The return was APPROVED by an agent, who offered me a choice of refund, replacement, or credit. I have this in writing. I chose a Refund.
Takealot collected the phone, and then a different agent DECLINED the return, falsely claiming "user damage."
The "damage" was the phone's back cover being forced open by the swollen battery. It was the symptom of the defect, not the cause. I also clarified that the only crack was on a screen protector, not the screen.
I sent a formal dispute email to the agent on November 11th, detailing this error and providing photographic proof.
Takealot COMPLETELY IGNORED my formal dispute. They never rep****.
Today, they just sent the hazardous, defective phone back to me, with no resolution.
Takealot has ignored its own agent's approval, ignored my formal dispute, and is now forcing me to keep a dangerous, non-functional item.
