Takealot refuses to exchange a faulty kettle

I bought a melloware kettle and toaster from them in November 2020 amd the warranty is 1 year with an extended 1 year warranty. My kettle burst this week, I reported it to takealot and they informed me that their 6 months warranty has lapsed amd cannot help me which contradicts the 1 year warranty written on the packaging of tge items.
