Takealot refuses to accept return!

Ordered a car cover in advance as a Christmas gift. Upon opening (on Christmas Day) we noticed tears and scratches on the item and it wouldn’t fit the car either. I tried logging a return and Takealot refuses to accept the return because of their 7 day return policy. Even though the item is damaged and can’t be used since it’s too small?!
