Takealot pipeline is fundamentally flawed
The Takealot pipeline is fundamentally flawed. I placed an order on June 11 and quickly realized I had entered the wrong delivery address. I immediately contacted the call center, where they assured me they would try to resolve the issue. Despite following up four times on June 12, the package still left the Kempton Park warehouse and made its way to the incorrect address in Plettenberg Bay instead of the correct address in Randburg, Gauteng.
When I contacted Takealot again, they recommended I cancel the order and reorder the items. I agreed, only to find that the same products were now R2,000 more expensive and one item had a 3 to 5-day waiting period. This was particularly frustrating as I needed the package for Father's Day weekend.
I reached out to Takealot once more to ask if they could "uncancel" the order. They promised to get back to me, but despite following up six times, I never heard back.
Meanwhile, my wife found an "unboxed" version of the product I needed. I placed a new order on Thursday and paid R75 for expedited shipping to receive it by Friday. However, on Friday, I received an email stating that my order would not be shipped until the following Tuesday. Once again, the agent I spoke to simply said they would escalate the issue to the warehouse, but I have no confidence I will hear back.
The first order number of the canceled order is ***. The second order number, where the expedited shipping promise was broken, is ***.
I think it's time to give Amazon.co.za a chance.
I am giving it today still for them to fix this and pay back the money they stole. If not I will purchase a ticket to Cape Town next week and pay Frederik Zietsman a visit.
