Takealot penalizes customers for ebooks by subtracting them for the size discount OR conditions of delivery discount not displayed on website

I ordered goods over R1000 from Takealot while the size discount on delivery costs is R450. However I will have to wait for everything until the Christmas rush because the last item in my order can only be provided 25 days from now. I will have to pay R60 extra to split the order to receive items that are ready, because an eBook of R79 is subtracted from the total of the order, meaning it cannot be split in two halves that both exceed R450. There is no other way of splitting the items into two parts exceeding R450 unless the ebook is considered part of the order. Nowhere on the website does Takealot warn that buying an eBook is not eligible for the delivery discount, in other words you could order over R450 to get the advertised discount, only to find your order is not big enough because the value of the eBook is subtracted from the delivery. The website only says eBooks are not eligible for Cash on Delivery, which strengthens the perception that therefore eBooks are eligible to all other programs, including the R450 order-size free-delivery benefit. The website is misleading.

After complaining, Takealot suddenly changed the story saying the system cannot exclude items already in stock from the first package, therefore the second package will be too small for the discount. This is an insult to the customer's intelligence because the list of items in this calculation clearly exclude the eBook, yet one is to be duped into thinking the eBook had no effect. I have had enough talking about this with consultants who are either mathematically challenged and cannot see the inclusion of the eBook would make both portions of the split exceed R450, or who dishonestly exclude the eBook from the calculation but make as if that had no effect. Therefore do not call me. This must remain in writing for further action to be taken, write to janmconradie at gmail dot com. So my Christmas gift from Takealot is not only a surprising additional cost of R60, but the distress and insult suffered talking about it. That is some reward for a customer like me who supported you for more than a decade and bought many, many thousands of Rands of goods in total to date.
