TAKEALOT / NOT TO BE TRUSTED

Hi

I bought 55 inch LG UHD Tv via Takealot.com last November. I have no problem till yesterday suddenly the plastic feet attached to the bottom of the tv have been broken off without any physical force or contact. Consequently tv fell off from the tv stand and it caused severe damage to tv and some scratch on tv stand. At first I thought I am going to claim from the insurance company then I changed my mind as this wasn't an accident but product design defect. So I logged a return at Takealot hoping that it wasn't only me and they can take this issue to the manufacturer. Just after I place an return request, Takealot kindly sent me a confirm email as below.

So I thought It was very kind of them so I decided to bring this big tv to their Cape Town warehouse. It was a quite challenge though because it is big tv and the screen was partly broken.

When I dropped it at their return place, they told me straight if tv broken like that they can't accept for the further inspection by their supplier. So I explained and showed the broken plastic feet what actually happened and I want to challenge to LG as this is design defect. Also I showed them the confirm email from Takealot.com so I can bring it. The staff just repeatedly saying that I do understand your situation but I can't receive it and nothing I can do. Although the staff admitted that their system causes customers confuses and it makes their job very difficult. So I asked for the their supervisor and they told me that supervisor will be in Monday. So I asked that I can leave this big tv and I will be back on Monday to discuss with their supervisor. The answer was simply no.

I would much happier if they say "SORRY WE CAN'T HELP" from the beginning.

SO PEOPLE BE AWARE OF TAKEALOT.COM THEY DON'T LIVE UP TO WHAT THEY SAY OR PROMISE.

Regards,

Matt
