Takealot not taking responsibility for their blunder
I placed an order for a product and paid for it same day (8th Feb 2022) the delivery date was stated as the 17th of Feb which was fine although the Orme was meant to be a bday present and the bday would've passed by then but it wasn't a big deal. I took a lot of care and did a lot of research and comparison before deciding on the product I eventually ordered. The BIG Deal came when today, on the 16th of Feb I get a cancelation notification with takealot starting that they were unable to source my product from the supplier and they apologies for the inconvenience.
How TF do you inform me the day before my delivery is due that you cannot fulfill it due to unavailable stock from the supplier?? What's worse is that the product I ordered was on special at the time and is available on the site again but it's R200 more expensive. Customer service on Twitter is trying to tell me I should select a similar product from a different brand which I do not want coz I did my research prior and chose the one I did intentionally. It's the perfect gift.
1. How does takealot inform A DAY BEFORE DUE DELIVERY date that they do not have the product in stock? 2. Why was the product so available for purchase on the platform if it was no longer available? 3. The product can actually be sources as it is still available on the site but now costs R200 more - the issue is that takealot seemingly doesn't want to take responsibility for THEIR error and fix this blunder at THEIR cost? 4. I've waited all day for some feedback on this, called twice and was told it's been escalated with no revert back since 9:30am this morning.
