Takealot not honoring warranty
I logged a return for a set of earphones where the charging cable burned internally and melted under the warranty for the product, purchased in October last year. It was sent back to me and I was told that it is user damage and thus does not qualify for replacement.
I rep**** to the ticket from support with screenshots of the review complaints from other people who purchased the same product this year but received a mail that just reads:
Dear (my name)
Thank you for contacting Takealot.com
The declined unit has been shipped back to you.
Regards, Melissa.A

17 Jul 2024, 14:08The damage to the charging cable was due to it being so brittle after it burned from the inside. If you look at the reviews for the product it in not a new thing to happen with the charging wire. This makes the product useless as it can not be charged and there is no alternative charging method as the plug used is not standard. The earphones itself are awesome, I use them every day to listen to audiobooks to and from work. I suggest chatting with the supplier to find out where we can find replacement charging setups so we can continue using the item that we bought and paid for.
Personally I think this is very bad form of TA to dismiss a claim right off the bat as it is a known issue and no fault of the consumer.
