Takealot not adhering to the VAT act

I am unable to get VAT invoices from business purchases made on Takealot. The reply from Takealot is that its not a requirement that their suppliers are VAT registered. There is unfortunately no way for me to see at the point of purchase then whether I will be able to claim input VAT as Takalot only issue invoices after the item has been delivered. Surely Takealot can indicate at the point of purchase whether an amount includes VAT or not, surely this is Takalot breaking the law in terms of the disclosure required in terms of the VAT act.
