Takealot: Missing Items, Late Deliveries & Terrible Customer Service
If I could give zero stars I would. Everyone is saying how they can't wait for Amazon to come so they can finally leave Takealot in the rearview mirror, and it's because of things such as this. Takealot has many stories just like this one. So, we have extremely limited time at locations since we move around a lot. That's why, whenever we make online purchases we make 1000% sure that we'll actually be at the address upon delivery. On two separate days, I placed orders to Takelot - both clearly said that we would be receiving the goods well within time before we had to move on to the next location. The first order was received but with a missing item. When this was brought to their attention, we had to provide a bunch of info and were told that we would get feedback within 48 hours - surprise, surprise, no feedback, & never received the item. Suddenly we were told that the 2nd order would be delayed - by so many weeks that we wouldn't even be in the country anymore when it arrived. After going backward and forwards numerous times, we finally got them to split the order to ensure that the items we needed for when we left the first location would arrive in time since it was bought for use at location 2. That never happened. We received a message apologizing "for any inconvenience caused" because they didn't have a driver to drop it off. Inconvenience is when you receive a sales call during dinner - not when you mess up plans so severely that it causes hundreds of kilometers of issues. And it really didn't matter how many times we tried to communicate the issues and have them resolved - they were as helpful as Eskom. As it stands, no news on the missing item that was paid for in full, no items required to work with at location 2, and no word on whether we'll be seeing the rest of the split order 2 before we have to leave the country. Do yourself a favor and wait for Amazon to arrive in 2024, because Takealot is by far the worst online shopping experience you can have in South Africa.
